Biographical Statement
Evgenia-Vallentina D. Rementelas is a ceramic artist inspired by sea life and coral. Having lived near the water and the natural beauty of her Greek homeland, she has become artistically in tune with the aesthetics of nature in the ecosystems of the sea and the shoreline. Reflecting upon her own personal growth and development from childhood to adulthood, Rementelas finds the one thing that remains constant are the relationships within her family, friends and community that have had a significant influence in her ability to thrive as an individual. Rementelas uses the coral species and the coral community as metaphors of the people and community that have had such an impact in her life. Clay is manipulated and shaped into delicate yet strong sculpture/vessel compositions representative of man and various interpretations of coral to visually demonstrate the support, connection, and interdependency observed in the ecosystems of coral and mankind.
Evgenia-Vallentina D. Rementelas lived in Varda, Greece until the age of 17 when she came to the Unites States of America to continue her education and pursue her passion in Art.
